Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has been appointed chairman of the aspirants' screening committee for the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2026 national convention.
Oyebanji was inaugurated alongside other members of the 42-member committee during a ceremony at the party's national headquarters in Abuja on Thursday (or Wednesday, per some reports; ceremony held this week).
The committee is responsible for screening and verifying the credentials of all aspirants seeking elective national positions at the convention, ensuring compliance with the APC constitution, guidelines, and relevant regulations.
In remarks following his inauguration, Oyebanji expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him by the party leadership.
He pledged full commitment to strengthening the APC's unity, integrity, and progress, stating he would serve diligently wherever called upon.
Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, chairman of the congress committee, described the appointment as a recognition of Oyebanji's notable achievements and contributions.
The formation of this screening committee is part of broader preparations for the APC's 2026 national convention, which will include other sub-committees to ensure a transparent, credible, and well-organized event.
The APC, under National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda and National Secretary Sen. Ajibola Basiru, continues to set up structures ahead of the convention to reinforce party discipline and readiness for future elections.
