NAPTIP Rescues 184 Human Trafficking Victims in Plateau State

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has successfully rescued 184 victims of human trafficking during a major operation in Plateau State. Among those freed are three pregnant women, highlighting the vulnerable groups often targeted in such exploitation networks.

The rescue occurred as part of coordinated raids targeting locations in Jos and surrounding areas, where victims were reportedly held in exploitative conditions.

NAPTIP officials described the operation as a significant step in combating human trafficking in the region, with many of the rescued individuals believed to have been subjected to forced labor, sexual exploitation, or other forms of modern slavery.

"We raided some places in Jos where we were able to rescue 184 people. Out of the total, we realised that three of them are pregnant," a NAPTIP spokesperson was quoted as saying in reports from the operation.

The victims are now receiving medical care, counseling, and support services to aid their recovery and reintegration.

Authorities emphasized that efforts are ongoing to identify and prosecute those responsible for the trafficking rings.
