A former Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State, Bisi Ilaka has officially resigned his membership of the party.
In his resignation letter dated Tuesday, February 10, a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent, on Thursday, in Ibadan, the state capital, Ilaka thanked the PDP for the platform it provided him to serve at both state and national levels.
The PUNCH reports that Governor Makinde appointed him on May 29, 2019, as his first Chief of Staff. The appointment was made immediately following the governor’s inauguration. He served in that capacity until 2021 before he was replaced by Segun Ogunwuyi in July 2021. In 2023, after the election, Ogunwuyi was reappointed for a second term.
Ilaka, in the letter tagged: “The Chairman, Ward 5, Oyi East LG. Re: Resignation of Party Membership,” said “, It is with utmost humility that I tender my resignation of membership from the PDP.
“I am eternally grateful for the opportunities afforded to me by the party and the unalloyed support given to me over the years. Till we meet again,” he stated.
It will also be recalled that a former Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Agboola Ayoola, popularly known as Alleluyah, resigned his membership in October, 2025 from the party.
Ayoola, who hails from the Itesiwaju Local Government Area, formally announced his resignation in a letter dated Friday, October 10, 2025, ending his long association with the party.
He served as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under former governors Rashidi Ladoja and the late Adebayo Alao-Akala between 2003 and 2011, and was the only PDP senator elected in the South-West from 2011 to 2015.
