Tijjani Jobe, the member representing the Dawakin
Tofa/Tofa/Rimin Gado federal constituency in Kano, was booed and escorted out
of an All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congress in Tofa LGA.
The incident happened during the party’s ward leadership
election meeting in Jobe’s hometown, when aggrieved youths disrupted his speech
with chants of disapproval and confrontational remarks.
In viral video clips circulating on social media, a voice
from the crowd could be heard saying, “Wallahi, our leader, there are issues to
fix. We hunters, you have not considered us.”
As the tension escalated with continued shouting and abusive
comments, aides and supporters quickly moved the lawmaker away from the venue
and into a waiting vehicle.
The episode marks a notable show of grassroots discontent
for Jobe, who is currently serving his fifth term in the house of
representatives and is reportedly seeking a sixth term in the next general
election.
Earlier this month, Jobe had publicly appealed to
constituents for forgiveness over perceived shortcomings during an APC
stakeholders’ meeting — a session that reportedly also descended into chaos.
Some community members have long criticised the lawmaker’s
legislative performance and record of representation.
In January, Jobe resigned from the New Nigeria People’s
Party (NNPP) and said his decision was influenced by unresolved internal
divisions and prolonged court cases within the party at both state and national
levels
