I'm Disgusted By the Ibadan Judgement Recognising Wike Faction - Bode George

Veteran Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Chief Bode George has strongly condemned a recent Federal High Court judgement delivered in Ibadan, describing it as deeply disappointing and a deviation from the core issues presented to the court.

During an interview with Arise Tv, George, a former Deputy National Chairman (South) of the PDP, expressed his outrage over the ruling, which he said effectively recognised the faction aligned with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike as the legitimate leadership of the party.

"I'm absolutely disgusted by the Ibadan judgement recognising the Wike faction," George stated.

He questioned the monitoring of the rival convention purportedly linked to the Wike group, noting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had officially monitored the PDP's National Convention held in Ibadan, in line with established party procedures.

"It is curious to know where and how the convention of the Wike faction was monitored, if at all," he added.George further criticised the judgement for going beyond the specific matter brought before the judge, alleging it strayed from the scope of the case.

"The judgement from Ibadan deviated from the matter before the judge," he asserted, vowing that the decision would be appealed. The PDP has been embroiled in a prolonged leadership crisis involving rival factions, marked by conflicting court rulings, expulsions, and competing claims to the party's national leadership.

The Ibadan convention in question, backed by some governors, had produced a National Working Committee led by Kabiru Turaki, but subsequent developments, including the court ruling have boosted the opposing faction associated with Wike and Senator Samuel Anyanwu.
