ICPC Tracks N13.5bn Constituency Projects in Katsina

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has launched Phase 8 of its Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Exercise in Katsina State, targeting 39 projects valued at N13.5 billion across the state's three senatorial districts and federal constituencies.

The ongoing exercise, which began on Monday, aims to promote accountability, ensure value for money, and verify compliance with approved specifications.

The ICPC team is collaborating with representatives from the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and members of the media to conduct thorough on-site inspections.

So far, the tracking team has visited a range of projects, including health facilities in Katsina metropolis, road constructions in Funtua and Kankia, water supply schemes in Kurfi, Dutsin-Ma, Mashi, and Dutsi Local Government Areas, school developments in Kafur, Sandamu, Daura, and Mai’Adua Local Government Areas, solar-powered streetlight installations, and various empowerment programmes implemented statewide.

ICPC Director of Operations, Ludam Samuel, provided an update on the progress: “So far, we are satisfied in some projects, while in others the contractors will be mandated to return to the site to remedy the gaps identified.

The team has inspected several health facility projects within the Katsina metropolis, as well as road projects in Funtua and Kankia.

Water supply schemes were also tracked in Kurfi, Dutsin-Ma, Mashi and Dutsi Local Government Areas of the state.

In the education sector, school projects were monitored in Kafur, Sandamu, Daura and Mai’Adua Local Government Areas.

The team also assessed the installation of solar-powered streetlights and reviewed various empowerment programmes implemented across the state.

The initiative forms part of the ICPC's broader nationwide effort to strengthen transparency in the execution of publicly funded projects and curb potential mismanagement or diversion of resources.

The exercise remains ongoing, with contractors directed to address identified deficiencies where necessary.
