Habeeb ‘Peller’ Hamzat, the content creator, has revealed
that Funke Akindele, the filmmaker, came to his aid following his arrest in
December.
The TikToker had been involved in a controversial incident
late last year, where he had intentionally crashed his car during a live
stream, leading to his arrest by the Lagos state police command.
The police condemned the act as “extremely dangerous,”
noting it risked fatal consequences for both the influencer and the public. The
case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for
further inquiry, after which he was released from detention.
In a now-viral video from the premiere of movie ‘Love
Notes’, Peller was seen greeting Akindele as they both exchanged pleasantries.
The content creator expressed gratitude to Akindele, adding
that she supported him during his arrest and stay in prison.
“She helped me, she was the one who helped when I was in prison. She was the one who helped my life,” he said.
Over the years, Peller has established himself as one of
Nigeria’s most prominent TikTok influencers, amassing over 14 million
followers.
His online presence has also been marked by various
controversies, drawing criticism for behavior often labelled as “loud and
uneducated”.
