Governor Dapo Abiodun has lauded Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) for its pivotal role in advancing industrial growth, generating employment opportunities, and strengthening economic competitiveness in Ogun State.
Speaking through the Commissioner for Trade, Industry, and Investments, Mr. Emmanuel Adebola Sofela, at the opening of the 15th Gateway International Trade Fair in Abeokuta, the governor described Dangote Group as an exemplary strategic partner in the state's drive for industrial advancement and sustainable economic progress.
Governor Abiodun emphasized that the conglomerate has evolved beyond being a mere investor to become a trusted ally, with its impact clearly visible across the state's economy, local communities, and long-term development vision.
"Through visionary investments, job creation, and consistent support for infrastructure and community growth, the Dangote Group has demonstrated what it means to be a responsible corporate citizen and a catalyst for broad-based development," the governor stated.
He highlighted that Dangote's legacy in Ogun State serves as a prime example of how effective collaboration between government and the private sector can yield transformative outcomes. These efforts have not only bolstered Nigeria's overall industrial foundation but also elevated Ogun State's economic prosperity and global standing.
Key contributions from Dangote Group include major cement production facilities in the state, such as the 12-million metric tonnes per annum plant in Ibese (Yewa axis) and an ongoing construction of another 6-million metric tonnes per annum facility in Itori.
These projects are creating thousands of jobs and supporting related infrastructure and community initiatives.The commendation came as Dangote Group featured prominently among participants at the trade fair, themed around promoting businesses through partnerships.
The event also saw praise from other stakeholders, including the Ogun State Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA), for Dangote's ongoing support of private sector growth and economic expansion.
