Gov Radda Inducts 1,020 New Health Workers, Releases Over ₦3 Billion for Nutrition Programme

Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has inducted 1,020 newly recruited frontline health workers into the state's civil service, marking a significant boost to primary healthcare delivery.

In a related announcement, he revealed the release of over ₦3 billion to fund nutrition programmes aimed at supporting women, children, and other vulnerable populations.

The induction event was held at the Local Government Service Commission Conference Hall in Katsina, where the governor personally welcomed the new employees. These health workers are set to be deployed across various Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) throughout the state to enhance grassroots-level medical services.

Governor Radda emphasized that the recruitment process was fully transparent and merit-based. Notably, over 75% of the inductees had previously served as casual health workers, with their inclusion serving as recognition of their long-term loyalty, dedication, and service to the state.

The governor highlighted ongoing infrastructure improvements, including the upgrading of 268 PHCs with state-of-the-art medical equipment, better water and sanitation facilities, and the provision of tricycle ambulances. His administration's vision is to ensure that all 361 wards in Katsina State have access to a fully operational Level 2 PHC.

The substantial ₦3 billion+ investment in nutrition initiatives is part of a wider strategy to address malnutrition and enhance health outcomes for the state's most at-risk groups.

Speaking directly to the new inductees, Governor Radda urged them to embody excellence in their roles: “You are now the face of healthcare in your communities. Serve with discipline, compassion, and professionalism. Government will continue to support your training and welfare.”He added, “A healthy population is the backbone of development, and we will not relent in building a stronger, more responsive healthcare system for Katsina State.”
