FCC Appoints Veteran Journalist Ademola Lawrence as New Spokesperson

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has appointed seasoned Nigerian journalist, political analyst, and communications professional Ademola Lawrence as its official spokesperson.

The appointment, announced in February 2026, brings Lawrence from a prominent career in broadcasting and public affairs commentary into a key public-service communications role at the commission.

Lawrence began his media career in 2014 at Loveworld Television, where he built foundational skills in broadcasting and gained early experience covering the 2015 general elections.

In 2018, he moved to TVC Communications, initially as a sports anchor and reporter before advancing to senior reporter and news anchor.

At TVC he delivered extensive reporting on major national political events, including in-depth coverage of the 2019 and 2023 general elections particularly in Akwa Ibom State and a wide range of political stories across Nigeria.

A certified public relations officer, Lawrence combines hands-on journalism experience with strategic communications expertise.

He hosts the Speak Ur Truth podcast, a platform that features interviews with leading political figures and shapes discussions on governance, policy, and social issues.

He is also a prolific writer whose published analyses on national affairs, civic engagement, and public policy have earned him respect as a thoughtful commentator.

In his new capacity as FCC spokesperson, Lawrence is expected to draw on his deep media background and public-relations training to communicate the commission’s work more effectively emphasising transparency, equity in public appointments and resource distribution, and the promotion of national unity in line with the FCC’s constitutional mandate.

The move reflects a deliberate effort to strengthen the commission’s public-facing presence with someone who has long experience explaining complex national issues to diverse audiences.
