The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the full implementation of a cashless and contactless payment system across all its airports nationwide, effective March 1, 2026.
In a recent post on X, FAAN stated that the move will eliminate cash transactions at all revenue points, including access gates, car parks, VIP lounges, and other services to enhance transaction speed, boost security, reduce revenue leakages, and provide a more seamless experience for passengers and airport users.
The policy aligns with the Federal Government's broader push for a cashless economy among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), following approvals aimed at improving transparency, traceability, and efficiency in public financial management.
To facilitate the transition, FAAN has introduced the "Go-Cashless" card, which users can obtain immediately at all FAAN commercial offices and access gates nationwide.
The cards will also become available at designated branches of Fidelity Bank Plc starting March 16, 2026.
Travelers are encouraged to register online at gocashless.faan.gov.ng and pick up their cards ahead of the deadline.
FAAN emphasized that the Go-Cashless cards will remain available for collection even after March 1, ensuring no one is left without access to airport services.
The initiative builds on earlier pilot efforts, such as the contactless system launched in major airports like Lagos and Abuja in late 2025, and now extends to all FAAN-managed facilities.
This development comes as Nigeria's aviation sector continues to modernize, with the cashless shift expected to streamline operations and support the country's digital economy goals.
Airport users are advised to prepare by obtaining their Go-Cashless cards promptly to avoid any disruptions starting March 1, 2026.
