El-Rufai Set to Face N2.3bn Corruption Charge, Isaac Fayose Alleges

Popular Nigerian businessman, Isaac Fayose, has claimed that the former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, will soon be charged for alleged N2.3 billion corruption.

Recall that operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, attempted to arrest the former governor at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, on Thursday.

In an interview with BBC Pidgin, El-Rufai, who spoke on the DSS operation, alleged that the secret police was contracted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC to get him arrested.

The attempted arrest has continued to trigger reactions from concerned citizens, especially opposition figures, who are claiming that the President Bola Tinubu-led government is persecuting those opposing his administration.

In his reaction, Isaac Fayose, an internet personality wondered why the APC-led government is hellbent on fighting opposition figures.

In a video clip on his X account, Fayose alleged that those who refused to align with the administration are being attacked while those in the government are seen as saints.

He said, “In Nigeria, when you are in opposition, you are corrupt but when you are in APC, you are a saint.

“If you doubt me, think about this. El-Rufai quit the party for opposition and now, they are about to charge him N2.3 billion for corruption.

“Malami left and he was charged for corruption and now illegal arms dealing. Kwankwaso said he was not going to join them and now he is tagged as a bandit but Wike that has everything including opening a radio station and campaign office for Tinubu, he is a saint”.
