Disu’s appointment as acting IGP well deserved — APC chieftain Adewale

The Lagos State Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ayodele Adewale, has described the appointment of Tunji Disu as Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP) as well deserved.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the resignation of former IGP Kayode Egbetokun, who has been replaced by Disu, an Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).

Adewale, who also serves as Publicity Secretary of St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association (SGCOBA), noted that Disu’s appointment would further promote national stability, peace, and security at a critical time.

“I proudly celebrate the appointment of Nigeria’s new Acting Inspector General of Police, AIG Tunji Disu — an honour that truly reflects merit, discipline, professional excellence, and a lifelong commitment to selfless national service,” Adewale said.

He described Disu as a distinguished ambassador of St. Gregory’s College, Ikoyi, and an exceptional officer of the Nigeria Police Force, who has consistently exemplified integrity, courage, accountability, innovation, and people-centred policing.

Adewale highlighted Disu’s leadership as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, where proactive and intelligence-driven policing helped restore public confidence. He also referenced Disu’s service as Head of the Intelligence Response Team, Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as his contributions to international peacekeeping operations.

According to him, Disu’s commitment to modern policing principles, intelligence-led crime prevention, institutional discipline, and zero tolerance for corruption has set a standard worthy of emulation.

He added that Disu’s humane and citizen-focused approach to security has earned him widespread recognition and strengthened public trust in law enforcement.

Adewale further noted that Disu’s elevation did not come as a surprise, recalling his loyalty, discipline, resilience, and principled character since their first professional encounter in 1999.

“Watching your steady and well-earned progression through the ranks has always affirmed my belief that dedication, competence, humility, perseverance, and honour remain the enduring pillars of purposeful leadership,” he added.

He concluded by praying for divine wisdom, courage, and strength for the new Acting IGP as he assumes the critical national responsibility of deepening justice, strengthening public trust, and promoting national stability and security.
