Dangote Refinery Resumes Petrol Sales to Major Marketers, Depot Owners

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has restarted sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, to major oil marketers and depot owners following the implementation of a revised distribution model approved by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

The move marks a return to a more structured and controlled supply chain, similar to arrangements used in late 2025, where direct access is limited to verified entities with substantial storage and distribution capabilities. This excludes smaller independent marketers, who will now source products through the approved channels.

Key participants cleared under the new framework include prominent players such as Mobil/11 Plc, TotalEnergies, Matrix, Rainoil, Nipco, Northwest, Ardova, Bovas, Pivot, AA Rano, AYM Shafa, NNPC, and MRS. These entities are expected to handle bulk lifting and subsequent distribution to retail outlets nationwide.

Industry sources indicate that the gantry (ex-depot) price remains steady at ₦774 per litre, providing a stable base for downstream pricing. The shift aims to enhance efficiency, reduce potential disruptions in supply, and ensure broader product availability through established networks.

The resumption comes amid ongoing efforts to stabilize Nigeria's fuel market, leveraging the refinery's significant production capacity to support domestic needs and ease reliance on imports.

The NMDPRA-endorsed model is seen as a step toward more organized product offtake, benefiting both the refinery and the wider downstream sector.
