Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, has strategically positioned his three daughters, Halima, Fatima, and Mariya in prominent executive roles across the Dangote Group, signaling a clear succession plan as he shifts focus toward major projects like the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
In recent announcements, the conglomerate detailed the appointments:
Halima Aliko Dangote was named Group Executive Director, Dangote Family Office & International Offices (based in Dubai and London), overseeing family investments and global operations. She also serves on the board of Dangote Cement (since 2022) and has previously led successful turnarounds, including at Dangote Flour Mills.
Fatima Aliko Dangote was appointed Group Executive Director, Commercial Operations Oil & Gas, providing leadership across the group's energy sector, including the massive refinery and petrochemicals division. She additionally handles broader commercial strategy, procurement, and communications at Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), while contributing to the Aliko Dangote Foundation.
Mariya Aliko Dangote, the eldest, was appointed Group Executive Director, Commercial Operations for Cement & Foods Businesses. She sits on the Dangote Cement board (joined in 2025) and has driven operations, digital transformation, and strategy at Dangote Sugar Refinery since 2022, along with roles in Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria.
Aliko Dangote has publicly praised their contributions, stating: “My three daughters, Mariya, Halima and Fatima, are all senior executives at the group, and I can tell you for a fact that they are critical to the success of our business.”
