Popular Nigerian socialite and nightlife entrepreneur Pascal Okechukwu, better known as Cubana Chief Priest, has declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives during the 2027 general elections.
The celebrity businessman made the announcement via his Instagram page, revealing that he will run under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He described the decision as a deliberate and strategic one, aimed at positioning himself to influence change from within the government.
Cubana Chief Priest emphasized his firm alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC, stating, “I’m with Tinubu” and “this time I dey with Asiwaju.”
He explained that being part of the ruling party is essential for effecting meaningful impact, particularly in advocating for the release of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
“I no fit help Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from opposition. I have always been an APC,” he said. He further noted that staying in the opposition would limit his ability to push for such causes at the federal level, adding that younger, influential figures from the South-East need to engage directly within the system to advance the region's interests.
Addressing his past political involvement, Cubana Chief Priest clarified his support for Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi during the 2023 elections. He said that role stemmed from his position as a Special Adviser to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma at the time, but he has since returned to his core APC roots.“My father, Governor Hope, has worked hard on APC for me not to support him as DG Renewed Hope,” he added.
