A former Big Brother Naija Season 5 (Lockdown edition) housemate, Neo Akpofure, has threatened legal action against a social media user over a r@pe allegation made against him on X (formerly Twitter), demanding a public retraction and apology within 48 hours or face a lawsuit for defamation.
In a letter dated February 18, 2026, signed by Chief Victor O. Idiapho for E.L. Akpofure, SAN & Co., the reality TV star’s solicitors described the allegation as “entirely false, malicious and defamatory,” warning that failure to comply with their demands would result in immediate legal proceedings without further notice.
The letter was addressed to Ms Arikan Udoka, who operates the X handle “the violently wicked (@notralia).” According to the lawyers, Udoka had posted on February 17, 2026, at 6:34 pm:
“@NeoAkpofure is also a r@pist. He raped me in UNICAL. He should come out and deny it. We were casual s€x buddies with the clause that he wasn’t in a relationship. I found out he was and went to his apartment to confront him. So he r@ped me. Neo come and say you didn’t do it.”
The alleged defamatory post has since been taken down from the user’s X account.
Reacting to the post, Akpofure’s solicitors argued that the publication itself acknowledged a prior consensual s€xual relationship but went on to accuse him of r@pe, which they described as “an extremely grave criminal offence.”
“It is clear from the above content that you admitted that you and our Client were engaged in a casual, consensual s€xual relationship (‘casual s€x buddies’). Notwithstanding this admission, you falsely accused our Client of r@pe,” the letter stated.
The lawyers maintained that the allegation portrays their client “as a s€xual offender and a criminal,” exposing him to “public odium, reputational injury, emotional distress, and severe personal and professional damage.”
They further stated that the post constitutes “actionable libel under Nigerian law” and exposes the user to significant civil liability and potential criminal sanctions.
The legal team demanded within 48 hours:
“Immediate deletion of the alleged defamatory post from X and any other platform where it may have been shared or reposted; A clear, unequivocal public retraction” stating that the allegations were false;
“A public apology acknowledging that the previous statement was “untrue, misleading, and injurious”; A written undertaking refraining from making further defamatory statements about their client
The lawyer warned that failure to comply would trigger immediate legal action.
“Take notice that should you fail, refuse, or neglect to comply… we have our Client’s firm and irrevocable instructions to initiate all appropriate legal proceedings against you without further notice,” the letter stated.
The allegation surfaced amid heightened public discussions on sexu@l as$ault following a separate viral claim by a TikTok user, Mirabel (@mirab351), which triggered the hashtag #StopRapingWomen and prompted many users to share their experiences.
