ADC Appoints Donald Duke as Chairman of New Leadership Forum in Cross River

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke as Chairman of its newly established Leadership Forum in the state.

The appointment took place during an enlarged stakeholders’ and executive committee meeting of the ADC’s Cross River State chapter. Duke, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), received unanimous endorsement from party stakeholders for the role.

The Leadership Forum serves as the highest non-elective advisory body within the party. It comprises respected members known for their proven leadership experience and integrity. Duke's primary responsibility will be to provide strategic guidance and oversight functions across the three senatorial districts of Cross River State.

A communiqué issued at the meeting and signed by the state chairman, Dr. John Ogar, emphasized the importance of the forum, describing it as "imperative" for strengthening the party's structure and decision-making processes.

In addition to Duke's appointment, the party named three other elders to oversee specific senatorial districts:

Chief Ray Ugba Morphy for the Northern Senatorial District

Chief Akin Ricketts (former Chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority) for the Central Senatorial District

Dr. Effiong Nyong (former ADC governorship candidate) for the Southern Senatorial District

The ADC's Cross River chapter also used the meeting to outline broader plans, including an intensified membership drive aimed at registering at least one million voters ahead of the next general elections.

The party further committed to enforcing internal discipline, warning that its constitution would be applied strictly against any member, regardless of status found engaging in activities harmful to the party's growth.

This development comes shortly after Donald Duke's defection to the ADC and signals the party's efforts to boost its organizational strength and attract experienced political figures in Cross River State as preparations build toward future electoral contests.
