2027 Elections: I Will Work Against Peter Obi - Cubana Chief Priest

Popular Nigerian socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, better known as Cubana Chief Priest, has publicly declared his intention to work against former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in the 2027 general elections.

The celebrity, who was an active supporter of Obi during the 2023 presidential polls, made the revelation during an online interaction on his Instagram page.

The statement came amid questions from followers about his apparent shift in political allegiance, particularly his recent involvement with the pro-Tinubu "City Boy Movement" and his ties to the All Progressives Congress (APC).When directly asked by a follower if he planned to work against Obi in the upcoming election, Cubana Chief Priest responded affirmatively:

“Yes ooo hope say no be crime cuz i worked for Obi last election even as special adviser to an APC governor.”The declaration sparked significant backlash online, with some critics referencing his past encounters with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and suggesting that aligning with the ruling party might not offer protection from future investigations.

Dismissing the concerns, the socialite quipped, “If you never go EFCC for Naija you never make am,” implying that such visits are commonplace among successful Nigerians.

The conversation also veered into discussions about South-East regional politics and unity during the 2023 elections. Cubana Chief Priest challenged critics on what concrete development their support for certain figures had delivered to the region, urging people to back whoever they choose without imposing views on others.

This marks a notable reversal for Cubana Chief Priest, who previously campaigned for Obi despite holding an advisory role under an APC governor. His recent statements align with broader indications of support for President Bola Tinubu and the APC ahead of 2027, including his own reported ambition to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives under the party.
