Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has reiterated his belief that Nigerian communities can achieve meaningful and sustainable development under competent, people-focused leadership.
Obi made the statement while engaging residents and political stakeholders in parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as part of ongoing campaign activities ahead of the February 21 Area Council elections.
In Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, Obi joined Hon. Josiah Koche, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) chairmanship candidate, to interact directly with locals.
He later visited Gui Ward in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), where he met with the Bassa Royal Father and community members alongside Dr. Moses Paul, the ADC chairmanship candidate for AMAC.
“As always, the engagement was about listening to the people and exchanging ideas grounded in competence, compassion, and accountability,” Obi said in a post reflecting on the meetings.
He emphasized that progress hinges on leaders who prioritize the welfare of citizens. “I remain firmly convinced that with the right leadership and people-centred governance, our communities can achieve meaningful and sustainable progress,” he added.
Obi stressed that people-centred governance is essential for national development, noting that real advancement occurs when leaders commit to serving the interests of the people rather than personal or partisan agendas.
