Supporters of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara took to the streets of Port Harcourt on Wednesday night, singing political songs in a show of solidarity amid renewed tensions with Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.
In a video circulating online, the crowd emphatically declared that Wike "is not God" and urged him to concentrate on his ministerial duties rather than interfering in state affairs."Wike oh, na Minister you be oh, na Fubara be governor. Wike you no be God," they chanted in Pidgin English, reinforcing that Fubara remains the legitimate governor of Rivers State.
The demonstration comes against the backdrop of intensifying political hostilities between Wike, Fubara's predecessor, and the current governor, with recent developments including impeachment proceedings initiated against Fubara by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
