Osborn Umahi, son of the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has officially picked up the nomination and expression of interest forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest the chairmanship of Ohaozara Local Government Area in Ebonyi State.
He obtained the forms on Friday at the APC state secretariat along Waterworks Road, Abakaliki.
The aspiring candidate was accompanied by serving and former members of the State Executive Council, past and present local government chairmen, prominent stakeholders from Ohaozara, and a large number of supporters.
The APC State Chairman, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, who led members of the State Executive Committee to receive him, described Osborn Umahi as an intelligent and dynamic young politician with the capacity to drive meaningful development in the local government area.
Okoro-Emegha also commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for his consistent efforts to promote youth inclusion in governance, noting that the administration has created ample opportunities for young people to actively participate in the leadership of the state.
Speaking to journalists after collecting the forms, Osborn Umahi expressed appreciation to the people of Ohaozara, party stakeholders, and residents for their overwhelming support and nomination.
He pledged to prioritise human capital development, grassroots empowerment, infrastructure enhancement, and improved security if elected as chairman.
He further lauded Governor Nwifuru for empowering youths in governance and assured that he would work hard to justify the confidence reposed in him.
Osborn also stated his commitment to building on the infrastructure legacy established by his father, Senator David Umahi, while acknowledging the significant contributions of both his father and Governor Nwifuru to the ongoing transformation of Ebonyi State.
The move signals intensified political activities in Ebonyi ahead of the August local government elections, with Osborn Umahi widely seen as a strong contender for the Ohaozara chairmanship position under the APC platform.
