Nigerian troops and suspected terrorists exchanged gunfire at Obajana Town, where Africa’s largest cement plant, Dangote Cement, with 16.25 million metric tonnes per annum (Mta), is located in Kogi State, Nigeria.
According to a security analyst, Zagazola Makama, on Sunday
through X, the exchange took place on Saturday night.
According to him, the troops engaged the terrorists who
attempted to infiltrate the community.
“There was an exchange of gunfire between Nigerian troops
and suspected terrorists in Obajana town, Kogi State, on Saturday night, as
security forces sustained ongoing clearance operations in the area.
“Troops are engaging the terrorists who were reportedly
attempting to infiltrate the community,” he wrote on X.
Meanwhile, the Defense Headquarters is yet to officially
speak on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
Recall that scores died as a joint operation between the
Nigeria police and the military flushed out terrorists from Kogi forest.
