In a decisive double operation, troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, have dealt a major blow to criminal elements in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, neutralising seven suspected kidnappers, rescuing an abducted young woman, and recovering weapons and motorcycles.
According to security sources, the first raid took place on Tuesday following credible intelligence about the activities of a notorious criminal syndicate operating in the area.
During the intense operation, troops engaged the armed group in a fierce gun battle at their hideout. Four suspects were neutralised in the exchange, while others escaped, possibly with gunshot wounds.
Security forces recovered one fabricated rifle, five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and two motorcycles from the scene.Preliminary investigations revealed that the eliminated suspects belonged to a criminal network responsible for several violent attacks and kidnappings along the Ganawuri–Manchok corridor.
In a separate but related operation the same day, troops responded rapidly to reports of the abduction of Miss Immaculate Samuel, who was kidnapped on the night of January 13 at Kajim Village, also in Kaura LGA.The troops immediately mobilised, pursued the kidnappers, and engaged them in another firefight.
Three more suspects were neutralised during the encounter, allowing the troops to successfully rescue Miss Samuel unharmed.The rescued victim was debriefed by security operatives and safely reunited with her family.
The Joint Task Force has assured residents that operations will continue across the general area to track down remaining members of the syndicate, dismantle their networks, and restore peace and security to vulnerable communities in Kaura and surrounding areas.
