Sokoto South Senator, Aminu Tambuwal, has said there was never an agreement with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike to become his running mate in 2019.
Tambuwal said there was no such agreement when he ran for
the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential primaries in 2019.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time, on Monday
evening, Tambuwal dismissed claims of Wike asking to be his vice presidential
candidate.
He said: “Wike was my partner at the time, when I ran for
the PDP presidential ticket in 2019, I and Wike didn’t have any pact
(agreement) of him being my running mate.
“It has been said that he asked to be Vice President, but
not at all. He never requested that, I must be fair to him.
“He never gave me any condition despite being my main backer
that this is what he must take or must have.
“He identified me as someone young and who can do the job. I
believed that it was about my class and not opportunism of going to
manipulate.”
