Senator Natasha Accuses Akpabio, Bello of Witch-Hunt Using VIP Power

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello of misusing their positions to witch-hunt innocent Nigerians, citing herself as a direct victim.

The senator made the allegations at the Abuja Federal High Court shortly after Justice Mohammed Umar struck out cybercrime charges brought against her by the Federal Government.

The charges were discontinued following a notice filed by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF).

“The withdrawal of these two Federal government cases against me only proves that they were maliciously instigated by two individuals, Akpabio and former Governor Yahaya Bello, who misuse power to their advantage in witch-hunting an innocent person, which is myself,” Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan stated.

She described the dropped cases as evidence of a politically motivated campaign against her and extended gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for intervening.

“I have never doubted that Nigeria is a land of possibilities and the truth will somehow get one vindicated and now I can actually rest and resume my work,” she added, crediting the president for being briefed on the facts and ordering the discontinuance.

The development follows a prolonged feud between Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate leadership, which escalated in 2025 with her suspension from the Senate (later lifted), multiple legal battles, and public accusations involving claims of misconduct and threats.

While the Federal Government's cases have been withdrawn, the senator clarified that separate private actions initiated by Senate President Akpabio remain pending in court.
