Security sources have confirmed the successful and unharmed rescue of all 20 villagers kidnapped from Dunfawa village in Moriki District, Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The abductions occurred on Saturday when armed bandits raided the village, instilling widespread panic among locals.
According to the sources, the victims were freed around 4:00 p.m. the same day due to intense pressure from joint security patrol teams active in the Moriki region.
The operation featured coordinated actions by deployed security forces, compelling the bandits to flee and leave the captives behind.
"The 20 abducted individuals were rescued without any harm or injuries. They received medical evaluations at a government hospital, underwent debriefing, and were subsequently reunited with their families," the sources stated.
Joint patrols in the area have since been reinforced to deter additional incidents and support potential rescues in surrounding communities.
Villagers in Dunfawa have voiced gratitude for the swift intervention but urged authorities to maintain a stronger security presence to avert future kidnappings.
