Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has pledged ₦100 million, two utility vehicles, and four 2-bedroom apartments to support members of the Nigerian Legion in Lagos State.
The commitments were announced during the State Executive Council meeting on Monday, where the governor received the Lagos Chapter of the Nigerian Legion to officially launch activities for the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
Governor Sanwo-Olu stressed the importance of honoring veterans, stating: "I want our veterans to know that Lagos State truly values their service."
The support package also includes food items and other essential supplies.He highlighted the sacrifices of Nigeria's armed forces, noting: "Our sovereignty as a nation exists because of these brave men and women."
The governor called the Emblem Appeal a key responsibility to remember those who died or were injured in service."
This is our way of saying thank you for the sacrifices that allow all of us to live in a free and united country," he added.
The event marks the start of statewide activities leading up to the annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebrations.
