Retired CP Fatai Owoseni honoured as Atunluse-Ilu Adini of Oyo State

The Nigeria Police Force has congratulated retired Commissioner of Police, Fatai A. Owoseni, on being conferred with the prestigious traditional title of Atunluse-Ilu Adini of Oyo State.

The honour was bestowed by the Chief Imam of Ibadan, in collaboration with the League of Imams and Alfas of Oyo State, in recognition of CP Owoseni’s enduring contributions to peace, security, and community development.

In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, described the conferment as “a fitting tribute to CP Owoseni’s exemplary leadership, integrity, and steadfast commitment to national service and societal harmony.”

CP Owoseni served in the Nigeria Police Force for over 35 years, rising to the rank of Commissioner of Police. During his distinguished career, he held strategic leadership positions in several commands, including Lagos and Benue State Commands, the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), and the Department of Operations at Force Headquarters, Abuja.

He also represented Nigeria on international assignments, serving in United Nations peacekeeping missions in Darfur, Sudan, and Angola, where he provided expertise in policing, security sector reform, and transitional operations.

An accomplished scholar, CP Owoseni holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies (Security Sector Management) from the University of Ibadan and a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Diplomacy from the University of Benin. He has also completed extensive international professional training in security management, emergency response, and conflict resolution.

Since retiring from active service, CP Owoseni has remained active in public service. He currently serves as Special Adviser on Security and Executive Secretary of the Oyo State Security Trust Fund, a security consultant to JAMB, Principal Partner at HK-George Consults Limited, and founder of the Ayesha-Nihinlola Foundation, supporting educational and social initiatives for vulnerable communities.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on behalf of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, congratulated CP Owoseni on the well-deserved recognition, wishing him continued good health, fulfillment, and lasting impact in service to Oyo State and Nigeria.
