The Federal Capital Territory Police Command says it has launched an investigation into the death of a woman whose body was discovered in the Kubwa area of Abuja.
The deceased was found on the Kubwa expressway on Tuesday, with her bag, which contained her identity card and other personal belongings, recovered a few metres from the body.
Documents recovered from the deceased suggested she may have been a staff member of the FCT High Court.
In a brief statement on Wednesday, the FCT Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, confirmed that detectives had commenced work on the case.
She said, “The FCT Police Command is aware of this sad incident. Discreet investigations are ongoing to unravel the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. More information will be provided in due course as investigations progress.”
The development comes shortly after the killing of a nurse at the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, identified as Chinemerem Chuwumeziem.
Her death sparked outrage and condemnation from the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, FCT Council.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the council chairman, Jama Medan, Chuwumeziem reportedly closed from afternoon duty on January 3 and boarded a vehicle on her way home, but did not arrive alive.
