The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested ten suspects in a series of operations targeting armed robbery, drug trafficking, and other crimes across the state.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Monday in Dutse by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, SP Shi’isu Adam.
Adam said the operation, which was carried out simultaneously across the state, resulted in the arrest of one wanted armed robbery suspect, 9 other suspects, seizure of 7,028 illicit drugs, including rubber solutions, suck and die, and dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
The PPRO stated that seven suspected drug dealers/consumers were arrested, including Nadabo Ibrahim ‘m’, 25, of Kwanar Garki, Alkassaim Sa’idu ‘m’, 27 of Acauya village, Sule Tankarkar LGA, Ibrahim Sambo ‘m’, 22, of Bitinariya Quarters, Hadejia LGA, Usman Abubakar ‘m’, 30 of Dunari Quarters, Aminu Muhd ‘m’, 25 of Dunari Quarters, Yusuf Sale ‘m’, 22, of Nassarawa Quarters and Ibrahim Ismail ‘m’, 23yrs of Marakawa Quarters, Ringim LGA.
According to Adam, the police operatives from ‘B’ Division Hadejia during the raid also recovered a white Jincheng motorcycle that was earlier reported stolen from the complainant’s house located in Rinde Quarters, Hadejia town.
“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect(s) connected with the theft, while the recovered motorcycle has since been returned to its rightful owner on bond,” he stated.
In another operation, Adam highlighted that operatives attached to Malam-Madori Division recovered two (2) cows suspected to have been rustled at the outskirts of Dunari Quarters, saying, “The suspects abandoned the cows and escaped to a nearby bush.”
He disclosed that efforts have been intensified to trace the rightful owner of the cows, arrest those responsible for the rustling, and curb cattle-related crimes within the area.
However, the Jigawa police command revealed further that one Shu’aibu Musa, a wanted armed robbery suspect, was also arrested in connection with a camel theft, with a stolen camel recovered from him.
He said that Shu’aibu Musa was transferred to the SCID Dutse for diligent investigation and prosecution.
In Sundimina town, police arrested a suspected phone thief, Abdullahi Isyaku, ‘m’ 20, and a receiver, Nasir Saleh, ‘m’ 30, of stolen mobile phones.
“The suspects stole one Infinix Smart 10, one Tecno Camon 19, one Itel keypad, and ₦20,000 cash, selling the phones for ₦61,000 and the suspects have been arraigned in court, with the investigation completed.
“The public’s support with timely and credible information remains vital in the fight against crime,” urging residents in the state to redouble their efforts in this regard,” Adam said.
Recall that the Federal Capital Territory Police Command arrested three suspects in connection with the killing of a legal practitioner, Chigbo Princess, and alleged “one-chance” armed robbery operations in Abuja on Sunday.
The spokesperson for the command, Josephine Adeh, noted that the operatives of the Command’s Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Ogbeide Godfrey, tracked the victim’s mobile phone using digital intelligence and carried out operations between January 5 and 10 in the Dei-Dei, Dakwa and Dan-Tata communities in Kubwa.
