The Nasarawa State Police Command has reported significant progress in its intensified operations against kidnapping and armed robbery, arresting 12 suspects and rescuing seven kidnap victims between January 1 and January 17, 2026.

The successes were achieved through intelligence-driven operations, routine patrols, snap roadblocks, targeted manhunts, and close collaboration with local hunters across all 13 Local Government Areas of the state.

Among the notable incidents:On January 2, 2026, one Shuaibu Umoru (43) was abducted from his residence in Giza town.

Following credible intelligence, operatives from the Awe Division, supported by local hunters, tracked the kidnappers to a forest in the Sabon Gida–Abuni axis of Awe LGA on January 11, 2026.

When the kidnappers opened fire on sighting the team, the police responded professionally, neutralizing one suspect on the spot and safely rescuing the victim.

An AK-47 rifle, one magazine, and two rounds of 7.62x39mm live ammunition were recovered from the scene.

In another operation on January 2, 2026, along the Nasarawa Eggon–Mada Station Road, officers from the Nasarawa Eggon Division intercepted two suspected kidnappers riding a motorcycle.

The suspects, identified as Musa Ahmed (29) of Nunku Village, Akwanga LGA, and Adamu Yusuf (28) of Basa Village, Kokona LGA, attempted to bribe the officers with ₦200,000, which was rejected and recovered as evidence.

Further investigation linked them to a previous kidnapping incident in Arusu Village, Kokona LGA.

The command also paraded two long-wanted armed robbery suspects, Kabiru Isah and Monday Bulus, who had been implicated in several robbery cases across the state.

Commissioner of Police CP Shetima Mohammed praised the dedication of his officers, the critical role played by members of the public in providing timely intelligence, and the support from local hunters and other security partners.

He urged residents to sustain this cooperation by promptly reporting suspicious activities and credible information.

All rescued victims have been debriefed, medically examined where necessary, and reunited with their families.

The arrested suspects remain in custody pending further investigation and prosecution.

These recent operations demonstrate the Nasarawa State Police Command's renewed determination to tackle insecurity head-on and restore lasting peace and safety for residents across the state.
