Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun Labels Critics of Bad Roads 'Barking Dogs'

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has strongly dismissed critics accusing his administration of failing to address poor road infrastructure, referring to them as “barking dogs” who are merely intimidated by his achievements.

The governor made the remarks amid growing complaints about the deplorable state of many roads in the state, with some residents and observers describing Ogun as the “headquarters of bad roads” in Nigeria.

Communities bordering Lagos State have been particularly affected by the deteriorating conditions. In his response, Governor Abiodun defended his record, claiming that his administration has constructed more roads than those of his predecessors Ibikunle Amosun and Gbenga Daniel combined.

He suggested that the criticisms stem from envy and intimidation over the progress made under his leadership.

The comments, reported by Daily Trust and echoed across social media and news platforms, have sparked mixed reactions.

While some supporters praise the governor's defensive stance and highlight ongoing projects, others have condemned the language as arrogant and dismissive of legitimate public concerns about road safety, economic impact, and daily hardships faced by residents due to bad roads.

The controversy highlights persistent infrastructure challenges in Ogun State, a key industrial and commuter hub neighboring Lagos, where road conditions continue to draw public scrutiny despite government assurances of rehabilitation efforts.
