Nigeria Won’t See Positive Change Soon Without New Leaders – Dumebi Kachikwu

Dumebi Kachikwu, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has declared that Nigeria is unlikely to experience any meaningful positive change in the near future, attributing the stagnation to the dominance of entrenched "professional politicians" who lack credibility and moral authority.

In an interview on Arise Television monitored by Daily Post on Sunday, Kachikwu expressed deep frustration with the country's political class, arguing that real progress can only come when a fresh generation of leaders emerges to replace the current crop.

“What saddens me about the project called Nigeria is that most Nigerians can’t see through most politicians,” Kachikwu stated.

“They fail to recognize that we have a group of professional politicians who are taking us for a ride.”

He criticized the frequent party-switching by these politicians, who often criticize the ruling government after defecting, despite having previously been part of similar systems.

“They metamorphose from party to party, claiming that the government in power has failed,” he said.

“These politicians have neither the locus nor the moral standing to tell us that the government of the day is failing.”

Kachikwu, a businessman and media entrepreneur who founded Roots Television Nigeria, emphasized that the cycle of recycled leaders perpetuates the same failures in governance, economy, and national development.

He insisted there would be “no change in the country until a new crop of leaders take charge.”

The statement reflects Kachikwu's consistent critique of Nigeria's political establishment, as seen in his past comments on issues like corruption, leadership failures, and the need for genuine reform.

As a former ADC presidential aspirant who has positioned himself as an advocate for transformative politics, his latest remarks underscore ongoing pessimism about short-term improvements under the current framework.

The interview comes amid broader national discussions on economic hardships, governance challenges, and preparations for future elections, with many citizens echoing calls for accountability and new leadership approaches.

Kachikwu's views highlight the persistent divide between established politicians and those pushing for systemic renewal in Nigeria's political landscape.
