A man has been rescued alive from the debris of the Great Nigeria House on Lagos Island, Lagos State, 11 days after the structure collapsed in the aftermath of a fire outbreak.
It was gathered that the man was discovered alive on
Tuesday afternoon.
Recall that the multi-storey building went up in flames on
Christmas Eve before eventually giving way, prompting Governor Babajide
Sanwo-Olu to order its demolition on safety grounds.
Despite growing concerns that no survivors remained,
emergency responders sustained search-and-rescue efforts at the site.
Those efforts yielded a breakthrough when the survivor was
found alive beneath the rubble more than a week after the collapse.
Authorities have not yet released details on the condition
or identity of the rescued individual, while rescue operations at the site
continue.
