The immediate past Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has called for calm after the court slammed him and members of his family involved in alleged corruption a N1.5b bail condition.

Recall that the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday granted bail totalling N1.5 billion to Malami, his son, Abdulaziz, and his wife, Hajia Bashir Asabe.

In a ruling delivered on Wednesday, trial judge Justice Emeka Nwite approved bail in the sum of N1 billion for Malami and his son, while Malami’s wife, who is also a defendant in the matter, was granted bail of N500 million.

Reacting, Malami in a statement on his verified Facebook page, urged the general public to remain calm.

The former minister said he remains “fully committed to the rule of law,” stressing that he has consistently demonstrated respect for “due process and the authority of the courts”.

Malami said he “will continue to comply strictly with all lawful directives and conditions as determined by the court.

“We urge members of the public to remain calm and patient, as more comprehensive details regarding this development will be communicated shortly.
