Katsina State Deploys 15 Modern Ambulances to Major Roads for Swift Emergency Response

The Katsina State Government has taken delivery of 15 state-of-the-art ambulances, which will be strategically stationed along major highways to provide rapid medical response to road accidents and other emergencies.

The announcement was made by the Chief of Staff to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, during a ceremony at the Government House in Katsina where the vehicles were offloaded.

Nasir explained that improved road infrastructure in the state over the past two years has led to increased traffic, inevitably raising the risk of accidents due to factors like reckless driving, overloading, and sudden crossings by pedestrians or animals.

"To mitigate this, the government has procured these fully equipped ambulances to serve as first responders on major roads," he said, adding that a dedicated committee will oversee their maintenance and coordination with agencies such as the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The initiative comes amid heightened concerns over road safety in the state, following a series of recent accidents involving high-profile officials, including Governor Radda himself in July 2025 along the Daura-Katsina Road shortly after attending events related to the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Additional incidents in December reportedly involved the governor's convoy and that of Deputy Governor Farouk Jobe, resulting in fatalities and injuries in separate crashes.

The new ambulances, described as mobile intensive care units with advanced life-support equipment, are expected to significantly reduce response times and save lives.
