Kano State Govt Promises Amicable Resolution to Ongoing Emirate Dispute

The Kano State Government has reassured residents that the prolonged tussle over the emirate will be settled peacefully in the coming period.

In a statement to journalists in Kano on Thursday, Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, confirmed that decisive actions are actively in progress to bring about enduring peace and order across the state.

Waiya highlighted the administration's strong dedication to engaging in constructive dialogue with every involved party. He stressed that the government is fully resolved to stop the controversy from fueling further unrest or interfering with effective administration.

The commissioner underscored that the government's strategy is firmly grounded in upholding the rule of law, honoring traditional structures, and safeguarding the overall well-being and shared aspirations of Kano's citizens.

The emirate dispute, centering on the positions of Muhammadu Sanusi II and Aminu Ado Bayero, has involved multiple court rulings, including recent Appeal Court decisions maintaining status quo pending Supreme Court review but the state government remains optimistic about a swift and harmonious conclusion through ongoing efforts.
