Kajuru Abduction: Gov Uba Sani Sympathises, Pledges Rescue of Abducted Citizens


Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani on Wednesday visited Kurmin Wali community in Kajuru Local Government Area to commiserate with residents following a mass abduction on Sunday, January 18, 2026.


The governor arrived in the community to express sympathy for the affected families and reassure them of the state government's unwavering commitment to securing the safe return of all abducted citizens.


Suspected bandits stormed three churches during worship services two belonging to the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement and one Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) abducting scores of worshippers, including women, children, nursing mothers, and a three-week-old baby. 


Reports indicate that at least 177 people were kidnapped, though some sources mention over 100 victims.


During the visit, Governor Sani led a delegation that included senior government officials and heads of security agencies. 


He emphasized his administration's zero-tolerance policy for all forms of insecurity and determination to restore lasting peace and safety across Kaduna State.


“In Kaduna State, every life matters,” the governor stated. “We are here to assure the people of Kurmin Wali that the government is collaborating with relevant security agencies,the military, DSS, police, and the Office of the National Security Adviser to ensure the quick recovery and return of our people abducted in this community.”


He expressed confidence in ongoing operations, assuring that the abducted individuals would be reunited with their families soon. 


The governor also pledged full medical care for victims who sustained injuries during the attack.


The visit comes amid intensified efforts by security forces, with reports indicating that 11 abducted persons have since escaped. 


Governor Sani commended community cooperation and trust in the government, describing it as a sign of confidence in his administration's approach.


The incident underscores persistent security challenges in parts of Kaduna State, where banditry and kidnappings remain a major concern. 


The governor reiterated that his team will not rest until all victims are safely returned home.
