Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has announced plans to test premium subscription services across its platforms in the coming months.
The tech giant revealed that the new paid offerings will
provide users with exclusive features and enhanced AI-powered capabilities.
The premium experience will extend to Instagram, Facebook,
and WhatsApp, giving subscribers access to special tools and greater control
over how they connect and share content.
While the core functions of these apps will remain free,
Meta intends to trial various subscription models and feature bundles, with
each platform offering a distinct set of exclusive benefits.
One of the features under consideration for subscription is
Vibes, Meta’s AI-powered video generation tool, announced in September.
Described as a platform that “can bring your ideas to life
with new AI visual creation tools,” Vibes represents the company’s push toward
more advanced, user-driven creative AI.
Meta also plans to incorporate technology from Manus, a
Chinese-founded AI firm it recently acquired for a reported $2 billion, into
its subscription strategy.
Earlier this year, Meta highlighted that the partnership
would help improve its AI systems by introducing “agents”— tools capable of
performing complex tasks, such as planning trips or creating presentations,
with minimal user input.
