The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has firmly dismissed circulating reports claiming that it has released the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election.
In a statement issued on January 2, 2026, the Commission described the reports as "false and misleading," emphasizing that no such timetable has been published.
INEC stressed its commitment to operating strictly within legal boundaries. It cited Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act, 2022, which mandates that a Notice of Election must be published no later than 360 days before the scheduled date of a general election.
Any timetable issued outside this statutory timeframe, the Commission noted, could not originate from INEC.
The electoral body assured Nigerians that the official timetable and schedule for the 2027 General Election will be released at the appropriate time, in full compliance with the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and the Electoral Act, 2022.
When ready, the document will be disseminated through INEC's verified official channels.
The Commission urged the public and media outlets to disregard the inaccurate reports and rely solely on information from its authentic platforms for credible updates.
