Heavy gridlock occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday morning after a truck fell and blocked one lane of the road.
The incident happened near the Ogere Bridge, obstructing traffic heading towards Ibadan, Saapade, Alapako and other adjoining areas.
Our correspondent reports that as motorists diverted to the other lane, traffic movement towards Lagos, Mowe, Ibafo and other parts of the axis became chaotic.
As of the time of filing this report, both lanes of the expressway were blocked, leaving many motorists stranded.
It was learnt that the incident occurred late on Friday evening.
Officials of the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Road Safety Corps were deployed to the scene to restore normalcy.
Some officials at the scene attributed the accident to a mechanical deficiency.
The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorised to speak to the media, said efforts were ongoing to open one side of the affected lane to ease the gridlock.
