Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has reiterated his administration's unwavering dedication to partnering closely with the Nigeria Police Force to maintain lasting peace and security throughout the state.
In a statement released on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor highlighted these commitments during a courtesy visit to Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, at the police headquarters.
The purpose of the meeting, according to Governor Yusuf, was to further solidify the strong working relationship between the state government and the police command while promoting greater mutual understanding and collaboration.
Reflecting on his time in office, the governor acknowledged that insecurity ranked among the most pressing issues he inherited, but praised significant progress achieved under CP Bakori's leadership. He stressed that Kano belongs to all its residents, regardless of political affiliations, and insisted that partisan differences must never be allowed to undermine public safety.
"Politicians may align with different parties, but when it comes to security, we must stand united as one for the benefit of Kano State," Governor Yusuf declared.
He assured the police of continued moral, logistical, and institutional backing from his government, noting that Kano citizens widely recognize and value the force's tireless work in preserving tranquility.
In response, CP Ibrahim Bakori welcomed the governor's visit as a powerful show of commitment, encouragement, and goodwill toward the police. He credited the governor's ongoing guidance and support since taking office for the command's notable achievements in crime reduction.
The commissioner reaffirmed the police's pledge to sustain close cooperation with the state government to safeguard peace across Kano.During the engagement, CP Bakori presented three suspects paraded in connection with the recent horrific murder of a mother and her six children in Dorayi-Chiranchi quarters.
Governor Yusuf promised additional logistical support to empower the police in delivering a decisive blow against such criminal elements, signaling an intensified final effort to eliminate political thuggery and ensure enduring stability in the state.
