Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has directed the immediate demolition of structures in the Sambell area of Idoji, Okene Local Government Area, following credible intelligence reports that criminals were using the location as a hideout to plan and execute crimes across the state.
The operation, involving joint security forces, was underway at the time of this report.
The move forms part of the governor's intensified efforts to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace in the region.
Sources indicate that the Sambell community in Idoji had reportedly become a notorious base for suspected kidnappers, armed robbers, and other criminal elements.
The demolition is intended to deny criminals safe havens and disrupt their operations.Governor Ododo's administration has consistently vowed zero tolerance for insecurity, with recent actions including raids on hideouts, recovery of arms caches, and warnings to residents against harbouring criminals.
Authorities have emphasized that any building or area identified as facilitating crime will face similar decisive action.
This latest intervention comes amid ongoing joint security operations in Kogi State aimed at flushing out bandits and other threats.
Residents in the affected area have been urged to cooperate with security agencies as efforts continue to enhance safety and stability across the state.
