Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has flagged off the distribution of 1,100 motorcycles to Community Development Programme (CDP) officers and commissioned modern irrigation equipment to strengthen grassroots governance and boost agricultural productivity.
The initiative, launched yesterday (Monday, January 19, 2026), forms part of the administration’s people-centered development agenda, ensuring government services reach every community while empowering farmers for year-round production.
The motorcycles are being provided to CDP officers under a 50% subsidized hire-purchase scheme, strictly for official duties such as community mobilization, project supervision, and monitoring of development interventions.
The governor warned that any misuse would attract sanctions under Civil Service rules to ensure accountability.
To support agriculture, six modern tube-well drilling machines and three wheel air compressors were commissioned.
These will improve groundwater access and complement previous distributions, including 4,000 solar-powered irrigation pumps and ongoing supplies of fertilizers, water pumps, sprayers, herbicides, and pesticides aimed at increasing output, creating jobs, and improving livelihoods.
Governor Radda thanked the Ministry of Agriculture, Katsina State Irrigation Development Authority, State House of Assembly, local governments, and CDP partners for their collaboration in delivering tangible benefits to residents.
“Working together, we are building a Katsina that is inclusive, productive, and food-secure,” he said, adding that the state continues to live up to its heritage of hospitality, resilience, and progress.
