Edo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, has firmly rejected what he described as orchestrated attempts by certain individuals to manufacture discord between himself and Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo.
In a strongly worded statement issued in Benin on Friday, Idahosa described the spreading of false narratives and online smear campaigns as “dead on arrival” and motivated by unease over the genuine unity and excellent working relationship between the governor and himself.
“Certain persons, uncomfortable with the strong bond between my boss, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and me, are sponsoring fake stories online to create division. Their efforts will fail completely,” he stated.
The deputy governor called on those behind the rumours to channel their energy into supporting the administration’s SHINE Agenda which prioritises Security, Health, Infrastructure, Nourishment, and Education instead of promoting baseless propaganda.
Idahosa reiterated his total loyalty, affirming that he will remain steadfastly by Governor Okpebholo’s side “like the Rock of Gibraltar.”
The statement comes as the Okpebholo administration, which took office in November 2024, continues to project a united front despite occasional speculation.
Both leaders have consistently highlighted their brotherly relationship as a key factor in their electoral victory and effective governance so far.
The deputy governor urged Edo people to ignore divisive distractions and focus on the administration’s mission to deliver meaningful development across the state.
