China Slams US Over Venezuela Operation: No Country Should Act as 'World Policeman'

China has sharply criticised the United States for its military intervention in Venezuela, declaring that no nation should position itself as the "world's policeman" or "world's judge."

Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remarks on Saturday during a joint press conference with Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Beijing.

"We have never believed that any country can act as the world's police, nor do we accept that any nation can claim to be the world's judge," Wang stated, stressing the need to uphold international law and respect the sovereignty and security of all countries.

While not naming the US directly, the comments were widely seen as a direct response to Washington's January 3 operation that captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro following airstrikes on Caracas.

China has aligned with Russia and several Latin American nations in denouncing the action as a blatant violation of the UN Charter and Venezuela's territorial integrity.

Wang warned that such unilateral moves undermine global stability and could set perilous precedents for international relations.

The statement reflects Beijing's longstanding opposition to what it views as American hegemony and interference in other countries' affairs.

As tensions escalate over the Venezuela crisis, with Maduro due in a New York court today, China has urged all parties to exercise restraint and seek a peaceful resolution through dialogue, while reaffirming support for Caracas' legitimate government.
