A bomb explosion rocked Mubang village in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State overnight, leaving six people injured, the council chairman has confirmed.
Usman Inuwa, Chairman of Hong Local Council, attributed the blast to Boko Haram insurgents, noting that the same group had earlier this month attacked the village and killed 14 residents.
“Nobody was killed in this latest incident, only six people sustained injuries and they are currently receiving treatment at the hospital,” Inuwa said.
The chairman revealed that he regularly deploys a joint team of military personnel and local vigilantes to secure the area, which has helped repel previous Boko Haram incursions.
Efforts to obtain further confirmation from the Adamawa State Police Command were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
The command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said he would verify details with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Hong but had not responded by press time.
The incident shows the persistent security challenges in parts of Adamawa State, where Boko Haram remnants continue to carry out sporadic attacks despite sustained military operations.
Sokoto Communities Plead for Help Against Bandit Leader Bello TurjiIn a separate but related security development, stakeholders from Sokoto State’s eastern senatorial district have urgently appealed to federal and state authorities to intervene in communities displaced by notorious bandit leader Bello Turji.
Muazu Shamaki, Secretary of the Sokoto Eastern Zone Development Association, confirmed that a widely circulated social media video showing residents of Tidibale and surrounding settlements fleeing their homes was genuine and reflective of ongoing hardship caused by Turji’s activities.
He stated that more than 20 settlements have been affected by the wave of threats, attacks, and forced displacements linked to the bandit kingpin.
