Delta Council Chairman Faces EFCC Probe Over Alleged ₦800 Million Illegal Loan

A group of councillors in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), calling for a thorough investigation into the Chairman, Hon. Andaye, over allegations of fraud involving an ₦800 million loan obtained without due process.

The petition, submitted by members of the Bomadi Legislative Arm, accuses the chairman of illegally securing and possibly misappropriating the substantial sum.

It was jointly signed by the following councillors:

Hon. Peres Alari, Hon. Barbar Harris, Hon. Muturu Justice Ebimene, Hon. Ebi Nanakumo, Hon. Bariki Godsday Desmond, Hon. Edougha Felix, Hon. Isaiah Selekekeme Emmanuel, Hon. Komuko Pius, Hon. David Ambari, Hon. Egbebo Rofina Tamaraudebaemi, Hon. Musa Rita, Hon. ThankGod Tiriki, Hon. Forcados Segun Olobio, Hon. Coleman Donobebe Dennis, and Hon. Massah Austine.

As of the time of this report, the EFCC is yet to release an official statement regarding the petition. However, a senior EFCC official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the commission has received and is aware of the development.

Repeated attempts to obtain comments from Hon. Andaye proved unsuccessful. The petition has since been forwarded to relevant authorities in Delta State, heightening scrutiny on the local government's financial dealings.

The EFCC's response and any subsequent investigation could have significant implications for governance in the council area.
