The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed strong confidence that its ongoing nationwide digital membership registration exercise will exceed 9 million registered members within the first two weeks of the campaign.
National Secretary of the party, Senator Ajibola Basiru, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, speaking on behalf of the National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.
Senator Basiru announced that more than 2 million Nigerians had already successfully completed the e-registration process within just the first week of the exercise.
“We are happy to inform Nigerians that just a week into the exercise, those who have registered as members of the APC are already over 2 million,” Basiru stated.
He projected a significant surge in the coming days, adding:
“We envisage that by the time we make another assessment next week, we should have 8-9 million registered members.”
The National Secretary emphasized that the digital registration initiative is aimed at building a more accurate, transparent, and robust membership database to strengthen the party’s operations, internal democracy, and electoral preparedness ahead of future elections.
Basiru also warned that the National Working Committee (NWC) would not hesitate to take decisive action against underperforming states.
“Any state that is found lagging, the National Working Committee has been given the latitude to change the coordinator of such state,” he said.
The ambitious target reflects the APC’s determination to expand its grassroots presence and consolidate its position as Nigeria’s ruling party through a modern, technology-driven membership drive.
Party officials have urged eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing e-registration portal to join the APC and participate in shaping its future direction.
